Engineering student’s involvement in CREATIVITY & INNOVATIVE PROJECTS towards IR 4.0


In the face of rapid technological development, Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) is a key motivation which is based on the advancement of digital applications. Industrial revolutions originate from technological revolutions and their innovations are initially adopted by several leading industrial sectors [1]. The revolution relies on the creation of products and services that are effective and unique in nature. Creativity has now become the vital skills driving the industry 4.0 that require our young generation to think out of the box. Therefore, to cater the future industry development of 21st Century, Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology, MAHSA University has offered the course Creativity and Innovation in the Year 3, Semester 2 across in our major degree programs curriculum such as in Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honors, Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. The intention is to bring together students from multiple disciplines to work as a team to resolve issues.

The course is offered as 100% project assessments with a problem-based and project-based learning that emphasize knowledge and exploration. Preparing and nurturing future-creative-innovative graduates, it requires a constant evaluation and progression monitoring strategies as well one-to-one coaching. The course gives the ability to students to produce original ideas and finds solutions that bring changes and value to the societies.

The projects that student have been explored in the context of improving in an innovative environment such as E-Card System for Parking Accessibility, Smart Attendance Tracking System in Classroom, Application of Smart Parking Barrier, Re-cycling vegetables and fruits waste from Habitat Café as a Bio-Fertilizer for the plants in MAHSA University, Classroom observation using Cloud Application System, Learning Chatbox Application, Smart Screen Wall as an information Notice Board at Faculty Corridor, “Ellipse of Energy”-using wind turbine, Piezoelectric Transducer and Transparent Photovoltaic Cell at MAHSA University fountain and Park; and etc.

Besides that, as part of their project presentation and recognition, we encouraged our students to take part in our International Engineering, Science and Technology Exhibition which is conducted twice a year at MAHSA University. These competitions will motivate and encourage them to understand the real scenarios, a situation similar to what they will face in their future workplace.

Shattering Stereotypes: First Malaysian Indigenous Dentist

The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) recently extended their congratulations to Dr Tan Bee Hui, who became the first indigenous person to earn the title of Dentist.
