Ramp Up Your Resilience: A Virtual Run by Faculty of Health Sciences

Words by: Ms. Nur Faiza binti Abdul Razak (Lecturer, Department of Environmental Health and Safety, Faculty of Health Sciences) As part of MAHSA University’s May 2021 thematic month activities, the Faculty of Health Sciences organised a virtual run event named “Ramp Up Your Resilience!”. Runners from various faculties and departments joined the virtual race of 3km. The participants measured their activity while running on a treadmill using devices such as GPS watch and smartphone and then submitted their results to the organising committee. This virtual run was modelled after traditional running events except that participants completed the run entirely on their own. There was no pre-determined location nor fixed date/time. There was also no time limit set for the activity to be completed. DATUK SERI DR. NORAINI VISITS MAHSA PPV

We had the pleasure of welcoming YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Bt. Ahmad, the Minister of Higher Education Malaysia to MAHSA PPV. Accompanied by the Director General of Higher Education, Datuk Dr. Husaini Omar, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Datuk Dr Mohamad Shatar Sabran. MAHSA Pusat Pemberian Vaksin or Vaccination Centre started its operations on the 28th of June 2021. This was a big step for MAHSA University in serving the nation in the fight against the pandemic. Being a higher education institution, the vaccination centre fall under the purview of both the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Higher Education, hence the honorable visit by our special guests. MAHSA UNIVERSITY VACCINATION CENTRE

It has been 3 weeks since we opened our doors to the community as we joined forces in combatting Covid-19 through the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme. The opening of MAHSA University PPV was led by our Founder Professor Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa through MAHSA Health with his vision to speed up the immunisation process within the country. This is strongly supported by his team of medical experts and volunteers consisting of MAHSA University staff and students. Together everyone at MAHSA has been working day-in and day-out in providing service to the nation. From receiving the vaccines early morning to making sure each and every recipient of it is cared for from registration to selfie-station; from sorting out safety and traffic flow to sanitizing the entire PPV before a new day begins - ensuring everyone is safe; each one had played a crucial role in making this effort a huge success. MAHSA INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING CONFERENCE 2021 (MiTEC)

MAHSA University held an its first international conference on engineering and technology on Friday 9th of July 2021. It was the first in a series of conferences this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. This significant milestone for the university has been successfully set by the efforts of the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment and MAHSA Academic Solutions (MACS), with the support of Dato’ Dr. Ikram Shah, Prof. Alla Kesava Rao and Prof. Dr Srikumar. Held online, the conference was addressed among others by Prof Dr. Rao Bhamidimarri from the United Kingdom as the special guest, Prof. Dr. Saad Mekhilef from University Malaya, and Mr. Sunil David the Regional Director (IoT) for AT&T India. Prof Rao in his keynote address emphasised adapting learning technologies to the fourth and fifth industrial revolutions, and Prof Saad highlighted the recent developments in renewable energy, while Mr. Sunil briefed on the IoT ecosystem in modern industries.
