  Faculty of Medicine, MAHSA University conducted MAHSA international Medical Technology conference (MiMED2023) on 28th and 29th July 2023. Totally 175 participants attended the hybrid conference. 55 abstracts were presented during this conference.

MAHSA is proud to announce its collaboration with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and the launch of the First Kidney Club in Malaysia which took place today, 7th Oct 2022, at MAHSA University. This effort is the brainchild of Ms Reanugah Rajendren, our Final Year MBBS Student, who served as a volunteer with NKF and discovered a constructive path that could narrow the gap in educating the public on kidney health. Ms Renu's idea for a Kidney Club was greatly supported by Ms Khor, CEO of NKF, Professor Datuk Dr Razak, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine, Bioscience and Nursing, and the support of MAHSA University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato Dr Ikram Shah. Biotechnology may be defined as the use biological processes, organisms or systems to develop and create different products.  There are 5 main branches of biotechnology, ie Medical, Environmental, Industrial, Animal and Plant. Modern biotechnology provides breakthrough products and technologies to combat debilitating and rare diseases, reduce our environmental footprint, feed the hungry, use less and cleaner energy, and have safer, cleaner and more efficient industrial manufacturing processes. There are tremendous research potential opportunities available in biotechnology field, evidenced by recent advancements in several sectors including medical, veterinary, agriculture, fermentation industry and pharmaceutical industries through biotechnology research.   For 2022, MedSoc MAHSA have managed to resume the running of their medical camp, which was their first  session post-COVID-19 pandemic. The session was held on the 14 th of May 2022 from 9 am to 2 pm, at Surau Al-Ikhlas in Bandar Saujana Putra, Jenjarom, and was manned by 15 students who were in various stages of their medical training. They were supported by a member of the MAHSA Academic staff, Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Hj Mohamad. The medical camp was set up as a means of clinical exposure for our medical students, which included having contact with ‘real’ patients to talk to and examine. During the pandemic, many of these type of activities were put on hold for obvious reasons, and this had left students at a further disadvantage when it came to having sufficient clinical exposure.
