Through the Microscope: The Effects of Torch Ginger (Bunga Kantan) Extracts on Lead Acetate-Induced Testicular Damage

Lead acetate which is used as a mordant in textile printing and dyeing, as a drier in paints and varnishes, and in preparing other lead compounds, is an environmental and occupational toxicant which has been known to damage vital organs and suppress cellular processes. It is hazardous when swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin and has a risk of cancer depending on the level and duration of its exposure apart from causing skin, eye and respiratory tract irritation. It also has effects on the gum tissue, central nervous system, kidneys, blood and reproductive system. When We First Met: The First Impression

The simplest way to make a good first impression is to show an appropriate facial expression. One of the most appealing traits a person may have is a genuine smile. It has the ability to really light up a room by establishing positivity and making individuals in our presence feel welcomed. While it is crucial to smile, be careful not to show a cheesy, inauthentic grin. A broad smile may indicate we are trying to hide our nervousness, or worse, we may look arrogant. A simple smile may go a long way.   Body language speaks louder than words, and research shows that it accounts for more than 90% of a person's first impression. As a result, being aware of it is essential. Maintaining a proper posture and standing tall will make us appear more self-assured, confident and energetic. It's also crucial to appear approachable, so don't wrap your arms stiffly around your body. Instead, try to be comfortable, or at least, pretend to be. People always say “don’t judge a book by its c

Medical Tourism : Malaysian Context

The term ‘medical tourism’ dates back thousands of years to when the Greek pilgrims made arrangements for medical pilgrimages to the Eastern side of the Mediterranean. These days, people travel to other countries  where the best doctors or surgeons are available to treat their various medical ailments. Some countries provide far better infrastructure and skillsets in the medical fraternity than others. Studies have shown that the United States of America (USA) has undoubtedly the best medical practitioners in the world, while the closest second country is Germany. Patients who are able to afford the expenses flock to these countries for the best services. Medical tourism has never been a new term, as suggested by some quarters. Patients are willing to travel extensively for treatment and follow-ups to the countries which can provide quality healthcare systems, medical skill sets, optimum expert knowledge, state-of-art medical care and equipment, and easily accessible infrastructure. Science Week: Celebrating Science and Technology with Our MISKL Students

Every year, MISKL commemorates Science Week. Students have been engaged in a wide range of activities that allow them to apply their scientific knowledge to a variety of situations and real-world problems. A number of students participated in the Science Week demonstrated their creativity by conducting their own scientific experiments. The students are able to create and discover science thanks to low-cost, high-powered and adaptable technology. All we have to do is give them support and a safe environment in which to do so. The Centre for Pre-University Studies was invited to participate in MISKL's Science Week on January 27, 2022. Interacting with the children from their early years through sixth grade was both insightful and a lot of fun. All the classes took turns visiting our science booth. Thanks to E-Ying and Malavika, two Foundation in Science students, who demonstrated density experiments. When it came to answering questions and participating in activities, the kids wer
