Two Days One Night in MAHSA: August Series

Students must determine their interests, passions, academic accomplishments, and skills in order to select the right course to study for their undergraduate program. Because of this, the Center for Pre-University Studies and Student Central have scheduled a Two Days One Night in MAHSA on August 6 and 7, 2022, to allow students to participate in all the hands-on activities offered by each faculty.

Madam Masitah bt Mat, Director of the Center for Pre-University Studies, and Mr. Alex, from the Student Central Department, gave opening remarks at the occasion. Mr. Mahalingam gave the students a briefing on the human anatomy. Students had a chance to use the high-tech machines to learn anatomy, the composition of the bones, and the preservation and dissection of the cadaver. Then, students were taught by the Bioscience department the proper way to draw blood and dress a wound by the Nursing department. It truly provides students with a knowledge in the fields of medicine, bioscience, and nursing. This is one of the undergraduate education option for those who appreciate helping and working with others

The event continued with briefing from the Health Science Department. The students were allowed to learn and practice to use X-ray machines, testing body balance as well as feel their muscles. Taking Physiotherapy course is also one of the good option for degree program. The range of motion and functional capacity of their patients are evaluated by physiotherapists during examinations. It provides the chance for a demanding, rewarding, and fulfilling profession.

Students were then brought into Prosthetic lab to get familiar with  Plaster of Paris material to make tooth models and experience as a dental student on a simulated dental unit. If preserving good health and dental hygiene, as well as aesthetics and the cosmetic side of health care appeal to you, then you should pursue a career in dentistry. In addition to reducing pain, a career as a dentist can increase self-esteem, improve smiles, and alter one's overall attitude on life.

Faculty of Pharmacy took over the evening session by explaining to the students regarding roles of Pharmacist in Hospital, Community, and Industrial Pharmacist. The future prospects of Hospital, Community and Industrial Pharmacists were shared with the students at simulation ward too. For those who love Physics, they could consider engineering for their degree program. The students were given an opportunity to get familiar with electronic laboratory equipments, and to experience being a hydrologist as well as learning about solar power plant.

The Faculty of Business organised the Golden Bell Challenge, a fun game designed to test students' understanding of the business world, before the students took their tea break. Students had the opportunity to use our sport complex in the evening by playing basketball, badminton, swimming, etc. A barbecue dinner with clubs and society capped off the first day.

The following morning, the students played some games after eating breakfast before Ms. Farah briefed them on financial help. There are many scholarships available, however the students must remember to apply it for their degree programme. The event went smoothly all around.

We hope that this event will help students to select the best undergraduate program. The first step in living a life with a stable or high income is choosing the right course of study. It would be crucial for students to decide in advance on their career path.
