THE MOU SIGNING BETWEEN MAHSA UNIVERSITY AND MALAYSIAN RED CRESCENT



Another milestone was achieved by the Faculty of Medicine, Bioscience and Nursing on the 4th of August 2022 with the signing ceremony between MAHSA University (MU) and the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC).

MRC is a non-profit organization established under the Act of Parliament as an auxiliary body to the Government dedicated to humanitarian acts and services as well as providing 24 hours ambulance service in the country. It is the foremost volunteer organization in Malaysia, providing humanitarian and disaster relief under the umbrella of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, which is present in 192 countries in the world. The challenges of managing disasters involves various organizations to work together to bring resilience and empowerment to the vulnerable communities in the country. Both MU and MRC have established a successful working relationship during the current over two years of Covid-19 pandemic and the floods that had devastated the country.

Pro-Chancellor and Executive Chairman, MAHSA University. The management of MU believes that volunteerism, assistance in crisis, and building community resilience is of paramount importance in developing a safe social framework.

 

The purpose of this MOU is to ensure mutual understanding of key responsibilities of each to promote academic, training, and non –academic exchanges in the following areas: -

(a)     Exchanges of academic and administrative staff and mutual visits to pursue courses, lectures, training, services and research;

(b)     Student internship and training opportunity to enhance student experience with a focus on community resilience;

(c)     Exchanges of academic information and materials for conducting lectures and seminars and organising symposia and conferences;

(d)      Promoting collaboration in fields of mutual interest especially in the areas of disaster and humanitarian relief works.

Shattering Stereotypes: First Malaysian Indigenous Dentist

The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) recently extended their congratulations to Dr Tan Bee Hui, who became the first indigenous person to earn the title of Dentist. JAKOA's message was shared on their TikTok page (@jakoamalaysia) based on a post made by the Malaysia Orang Asli Students' Association (PMOA) on their Facebook page. Ns. Mustopa, M. Kep, a recent PhD graduate from the Faculty of Health Science, Nursing and Education at MAHSA University, has been honoured with Indonesia’s Health Ministry National award for his extraordinary dedication in building and developing health services at the world's largest archipelagic state – Indonesia.   Driven by extraordinary passion and desire to provide quality health care service for everyone, Dr. Mustopa successfully created an integrated health service model in Islamic boarding schools for local residents and the Husnul Khotimah Islamic Boarding School.
