On Campus Progression with MBBS : A sharing session with Prof Srikumar

A sharing session on campus progression with MBBS was successfully hosted by the Center for Pre-University Studies on July 29, 2022 (Friday). Students in their last semester participated in this programme to learn more about options and expertise in the field of medicine.

Students need to consider studying MBBS as their undergraduate degree if they are concerned about other people and their problems, enjoy using hands, eyes, and mind to gather information, are curious about how the human body works in health and disease, are intrigued by the ways medicine can be used to improve life, and are determined to dedicate themself, knowledge, skills, and their entire life to it.

They can help others while earning a solid living and having a bright future as a doctor. Since doctor are never confined to a desk all day, the work is always changing and rarely monotonous. Potential students also must have a solid foundation in biology, chemistry, and either physics or math, which are the three sciences most closely related to medicine. Furthermore, extracurricular activities are crucial. To obtain actual experience in the field of healthcare, they might opt to volunteer at a nearby hospital or clinic.

As new scientific findings and technological advancements are produced, doctors are always learning. However, getting a medical degree typically takes 5 years. Following that, they will select a medical specialty and devote the next seven to ten years to becoming an expert in that area of medicine.

There are countless specialist options, including cardiology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, and many others. With the same education, it gives a variety of employment opportunities, and doctors are in demand wherever they decide to live.

Medical school is challenging.  Students must be committed to studying if they want to be in charge of other people's health and wellbeing. We sincerely hope that the students would gain a lot from this session, and we would like to thank Prof. Srikumar for his excellent sharing session.
