Multi-Modality Dengue Control at LRT3 Construction sites get underway – an ICP Project by FOHS, MAHSA University

The project team from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS) MAHSA University conducted its first visit to one of the LRT3 sites where they will be implementing our Multi-Modality Dengue Control approach as an Industrial Collaboration Programme with SULRT3 (formerly known as MRCBGK).

This project is the brainchild of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veronica Chua, who is the Dean of FOHS and Senior Director Academic of MAHSA University. The 5 man implementation team from MAHSA headed by Prof. Veronica met up with 5 representatives of various project stakeholders for a joint site-inspection and technical coordination.

This meeting marks the commencement of this 12- month project by MAHSA University that aims to introduce a new environmentally friendly multi-modality approach to control Dengue in construction sites and its surrounding neighbourhoods.

It is well established that construction sites are an important driver of Dengue transmission. Therefore MAHSA University in collaboration with SULRT3 hope that this project will present a new improved regiment for Dengue control that can be employed in construction sites all over the country so that Dengue cases nationwide can be reduced without negatively impacting the environment.

FOHS, MAHSA University thanks SULRT3 for the trust and confidence they have in awarding us this project and we look forward to working together to make this collaboration project a success.
