In conjunction with
International Yoga Day the Faculty of Dentistry conducted a basic Oral Health screening by the
post graduates and Doctor of Dental Surgery Year 5 students under the supervision of the Dental
Public Health lecturers at Dewan Serbaguna Laman Puteri 3, Puchong , Selangor .
Oral health
is equally important as overall health. The lack of access to oral
healthcare due to cost, insurance coverage, and other social determinants of
health in communities has spurred the creation of several innovative models to
address this barrier. Oral healthcare integration into primary care and mobile
oral healthcare delivery are two prominent models that have been deployed
effectively in certain areas. Returning the mouth to the body is by coordinating oral
health and primary care services. It can address dental health disparities
affecting vulnerable populations, including those in rural and underserved
areas by the integration of oral health and primary care. It has been
identified as the number one goal in combating oral health disparities.
Integration of services often includes co-location of services. This model
allows for improved communication and coordination between dental and primary
care providers.
