Artificial Intelligence in the Restaurant Industry

Various industries now operate differently due to the development and intervention of technology. The food industry has opened its doors to new technologies and mobile application-based services which has led to an immense transformation on how the food industry operates today. Food technology evolved as a result of the combination of food and technology. The rise in investment that the food technology sector is seeing serves as confirmation of it.

As it turns out, consumer behaviour changed as a result of economic and social factors, and this is when the restaurant industry's technological trends emerged. Now, it’s more of an experience-based model than a hospitality business. Technology trends has pushed restaurants to implement the use of artificial intelligence in their base setup from taking orders to serving food to clients.

One of the latest additions of technology is the use of facial recognition for reordering previous meals at service kiosks. Restaurants that offer a menu with multiple customization layers and a wide variety of choices, make it easier for customers to reorder meals and encourages them to think about revisiting the restaurant.

This technology can also be integrated with facial recognition to help establish loyalty and make business-customer relationships last by providing customers a way to reorder their favourite meals quickly. Without requiring them to swipe a card, the facial recognition software will recognise registered customers and retrieve their loyalty accounts. In the future, restaurants will continue to explore unique and more personalised initiatives to improve customer loyalty and experience. Facial recognition technologies are empowering restaurants to reinvent old processes, creating healthier, more efficient and more enjoyable experiences for customers as well as benefiting the restaurant with an additional revenue generation.
