MAHSA Library Information Literacy Training: Online Database (ProQuest) Searching

An information literacy training session was held by MAHSA Library on 30th June 2022 at the Computer Lab 3, Level 3, Empathy Block. The title of this session was Basic Online Database ProQuest searching.

This training session conducted by Mr. Md Roslan Osman, Senor Library Executive, was aimed at teaching our students on how to effectively  using subscription based online databases such as the ProQuest database available in MASHA library. It is hoped that this training will help MAHSA students to find accurate information faster through search tips for their assignments and to find research reference materials through this online database for their academic papers, projects and dissertation.

The training was limited to a group of 10 so as to enable personal guidance by the instructor. The 45 minutes session started at 10.00am. The topic discussed was an introduction to ProQuest and its features. This was followed by tips on how to search using various search methods. Participants were then asked to try out the search methods taught to find information related to their respective courses under the supervisions of the trainer.

The participants found the training to be simple, informative and helpful for the learning activities they had to do in their respective programmes. MAHSA Library plans to conduct this training multiple times over the course of the year for interested students. Those who are interested to enrol for the next session are invited to register at the MAHSA Library.
