MAHSA Carnival: An Extravagant Fun and Learning

MAHSA Carnival was held on the 24th and 25th of June 2023 and was a grand event that brought together students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and the local community for a day of excitement, entertainment, and engagement. The carnival aimed to create a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, promoting social interaction and fostering a sense of unity among participants. The carnival was held at Menara Teo Chew and MAHSA’s affiliates were also involved during the carnival. The lively atmosphere immediately set the tone for a day filled with enthusiasm and celebration.

Several interactive exhibitions were organized, allowing guests to gain knowledge in various fields focusing on the medical lane. These included free health screening, medical talks, games, career guidance sessions, entrepreneurial showcases, and quizzes. The diverse range of exhibitions catered to the interests and passions of attendees, fostering a spirit of curiosity and learning.

The university carnival extended its reach beyond the campus, actively involving the local community. Student Central set up the booth in showcasing our activities. The Student Representative Council set up a stall and showcase their product which they were selling cookies and biscuits. This activity created an opportunity for community members to interact with the university and vice versa, fostering stronger bonds and mutual support.

The carnival served as a platform for raising awareness about important social issues and promoting sustainability since MAHSA is actively promoting the No Single Use Plastic movement. Several initiatives, such as eco-friendly practices were implemented to ensure a responsible and environmentally conscious event. Educational booths also educated attendees on topics such as mental health, diversity, and inclusivity, creating a space for dialogue and understanding.

It proved to be a resounding success, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a joyous celebration of diversity and learning. The event successfully achieved its objectives of fostering community engagement, promoting social interaction, and creating an inclusive environment. The vibrant atmosphere, engaging activities, and educational opportunities provided a memorable experience for all guests. The university carnival not only entertained but also inspired and educated, leaving a lasting impact on the attendees.

Shattering Stereotypes: First Malaysian Indigenous Dentist

The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) recently extended their congratulations to Dr Tan Bee Hui, who became the first indigenous person to earn the title of Dentist.
