Honoring the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2023 as well as promoting togetherness among faculty members, Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS) and Center of Education and Language (CEL) jointly held a Hari Raya Get Together event on 18th May 2023 (Thursday) with the theme; Traditional & Classic. The celebration which was initiated by our Dean, Assoc. Prof Dr. Veronica Chua was enthusiastically supported by all the staff who put their best effort in making the event successful and bringing everyone together within one faculty.

Each department in FOHS prepared different kinds of food; Medical Imaging (MI) and Environmental Health (EH) preparde roti jala, dessert and cocktail, CEL preparing grilled chicken and black pepper gravy and while Physiotherapy in charge of the main dish; Byriani rice. There were also staff that brought other Hari Raya specialties such as nasi impit, kuah kacang, ketupat and rendang.


The event was conducted at worked conference room at level 6. A day prior, staffs were working together to decorate the room the decorating style was simple but highlight the theme of the celebration - traditional and classic, as well as including the element of Hari Raya Aidilfitri such as bamboo; a very crucial element in the making of lemang - special dish which is only available during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.




















The food has been arranged at the conference room early in the morning as the celebration was scheduled at 12 o’clock in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the staff of CEL were preparing the grilled chicken and MI prepared grilled chicken and the cocktail drinks respectively.

The celebration has been initiated with dua’ recitation by Mr Fitri, a lecturer from CEL. While enjoying the delectable and appetizing dishes, all staffs mingled between departments and taking group photos at the photo booth.
















All staff, Malaysian and the foreign lecturers expressed their gratitude and delight that faculty has given them the opportunity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with their FOHS & CEL family and enjoy many of the Hari Raya specials cuisine. The celebration managed to strengthen the brotherhood of FOHS staffs and encourage the acknowledgement and honoring of various cultures. Thus, we from Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS) & CEL wishes Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all!


It is our hope that through this celebration and many more similar in the future, would be able to foster stronger bonds between the FOHS & CEL staffs while encouraging cultural exchange among our diverse faculty team members.

Shattering Stereotypes: First Malaysian Indigenous Dentist

The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) recently extended their congratulations to Dr Tan Bee Hui, who became the first indigenous person to earn the title of Dentist.
