Prof. Dato’ Salleh is also the formerly the deputy director general of higher education Malaysia and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Prof. Dato’ Salleh began his session by putting into context extracurricular activities in higher education, ie to produce well-rounded students that have holistically developed during their student journey in the institution. He then briefly discussed the challenges of educating Gen Y, Gen Z and Generation Alpha in comparison, and how heutagogy, peeragogy and cybergogy are becoming more mainstream in higher education. He then went through the different types of extracurricular activities and highlighted the MOHE initiative SULAM, where academic curricula is blended with extracurricular activities

The session was so interesting and engaging that both the speaker as well as the audience lost track of time and the session stretched on for almost an hour past the schedule. Feedback from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive with many requesting a follow-up session with Dato’ Salleh.
