Community Project: A Pint Saves Three

Fourteen students from the Biomedical programme (Batch 9) organised a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the National Blood Centre (Pusat Darah Negara) on the 27th of October 2021 (Wednesday) from 10 am to 4 pmThis blood donation drive was aimed to help the National Blood Centre to increase their storage of blood units, which was low due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and as an initiative of giving back to community. It was opened to all the MAHSA University students and staff and the residents of Bandar Saujana Putra.

An Instagram account @hero.med9 was created to promote the importance of a blood donation campaign and to encourage people to donate blood. The team targeted to collect 70 blood bags. The response was overwhelming as they received 88 donors, with 17 being turned down due to high blood pressure and low haemoglobin levels, unfortunately.

By the end of the day, 71 donor units were collected. The event was a great success and it motivated the team to provide further services to the community in the future. It was a success with the support from the students and staff of MAHSA University and also the residents of Bandar Saujana Putra.

Thank you to all donor and all those contribute in various way.
