A Name Synonymous to Excellence


It is as the title of this blog says, a name synonymous to excellence - Professor Dr. Srikumar Chakravarthi was just announced as one of the five award recipients of the Malaysia's Visionary Education Leader of 2021 by Education Stalwarts. Certainly a deserving accolade as the award spells rightfully to a true visionary educationist and leader. This award honors the unique contribution and commitment of some of the finest Educational Leaders that are constantly improving the quality of education while enriching the lives of their students. Amidst him, Dato' Nelson Renganathan, Ben Hale, Prof. Dr. Azhar Abdul Rashid, and Noraini Binti Youp were the other recipients of this prestigious award in Malaysia. 

Prof. Sri is the Director of Research, Innovation and Post Graduate Studies in MAHSA University. He is also a Medical Doctor, Professor in Pathology and academician at the Faculty of Medicine, Bioscience and Nursing at MAHSA University and with 24 years experience in academics and research, he has a wide-ranging experience of teaching in various medical faculties in India, Malaysia, USA, and UK. As an ardent researcher, he has nearly 200 papers in indexed international peer-reviewed journals, with an H-index of 26, i10 index of 69, and 3000+ citations alongside being involved in numerous research grants projects. His areas of research interest include cancer pathology, immunohistochemistry, post mortem studies, and drug toxicity studies.

Beyond his professional achievements, he has personally won the hearts of many of his students and colleagues who look up to him as their mentor and friend. Known for his infectious positivity and bolts of humour, this heavy-metal enthusiast who coolly takes pride in calling himself a nerd, believes in cultivating larger than life experiences. As an academician, his lectures take on the most transformative sessions with his students which engages them in active learning and ultimately academic success. His unconventionally unique teaching approaches have made learning medicine a true art that has gone to help many students and fellow researchers along the years and accords him as the classic needle in the haystack.

Shattering Stereotypes: First Malaysian Indigenous Dentist

The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) recently extended their congratulations to Dr Tan Bee Hui, who became the first indigenous person to earn the title of Dentist.
