MAHSA International Conference in Accounting & Business (MiCAB) 2022

MAHSA University's Faculty of Business, Hospitality, Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Management Studies and Research, Navi Mumbai organised an online International Conference in Accounting and Business (MiCAB 2022) on 25th of March. Researcher Spotlight : Dr. Sohail Ahmad

  Dr Sohail Ahmad is currently serving as the Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) and Head of Department (Pharmacy Practice) in the Faculty of Pharmacy of MAHSA University. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan in 2011 and Master of Science (MSc) (Clinical Pharmacy) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia in 2013. During his MSc, he conducted research by enrolling patients from the Hospital Selayang and Sungai Buloh, Malaysia. Following completion of his MSc, he joined MAHSA University in 2016 as a lecturer in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice. Dr Sohail has been actively involved in National-Medical-Research-Registry-(NMRR)-approved research projects in Malaysian healthcare settings. His main research aims are to improve patients’ self-management of chronic diseases using innovative methods and to explore parameters of population health at global, regional, and national levels. “Something to Smile About” Tooth Whitening Workshop

  The Department of Conservative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry successfully conducted the “Something to Smile About” Tooth Whitening Workshop in collaboration with Ultradent Products, Inc. The workshop was organised in conjunction with MAHSA Alumni Day on 19th March 2022 and received an encouraging participation from over 20 alumni. The presenter, Ms. Josephine Siew first explained the principles of tooth whitening and shared the available treatment options. It was followed by the Opalescence Go product trial and soft tray fabrication hands-on session. The Faculty of Dentistry looks forward for more interactions with the alumni and industry partners in the future.

Basics of Dental Photography Workshop – By Alumni, For Alumni

  In conjunction with MAHSA Alumni Day on 19th March 2022, the Faculty of Dentistry and MAHSA Dental Alumni (MADAM) successfully organised the Basics of Dental Photography Workshop with tremendous support by the alumni. With the aim By Alumni, For Alumni, the workshop started with the sharing by Dr. Harry. This was followed by the hands-on session facilitated by Dr. Harry, Dr. Darren and Dr. Ang Yee to the over 20 alumni who participated in the workshop. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kranthi Raja, the Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Research), expressed sincere thanks to the alumni for giving back and looks forward to working alongside the alumni to help shape the next generation of dentists. 😃

Stay Fit Explorace

  By: Malavika Kaden MAHSA University’s Centre of Pre-University Studies organised a physical fitness exploration race on 19th March that was open to all MAHSA students. The goal of this exploration was to inspire students to be physically active, to embrace healthy competition among competing teams and to foster unity and teamwork among participants. It was planned and executed by the pre-university department lecturers Dr Naimah Haron, Dr Chew Weiyun, and Madam Siti Salmiah, and the participants were students from various faculties participating. Six stations were set up across the university campus, each staffed by student volunteers. Participants were given clues that would guide them to their assigned stations, where they would complete some fun yet physically challenging exercises. Such tasks included burpees, squats, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks and sprint running. At each station, participants were also required to find ribbons hidden by the student volunteers to acqui

Fitness-Screening Booth 2022

  In conjunction with the thematic month of February 2022, the Faculty of Health Sciences set up a fitness-screening booth on Thursday 17th February 2022 from 10 am to 4.10 pm at SPINE in the Humanity Building. The activity was aligned with the theme   “Unite, Stay Fit and Be Happy”. There was a wide range of interesting activities conducted at the fitness screening booth, including the flexibility test, the cardiovascular-endurance test, the muscle-strength test, the balance test and BMI calculation.   The participants for these activities included students and staff of MAHSA University. They eagerly participated in the activities and at the end obtained an eye-opening summary of their physical fitness level after performing all the tests. MAHSA Appoints Eminent Hospitality Consultant & Award Winning Author, Mr Hanley Chew as Industry Advisor to School of Hospitality Management

The School of Hospitality Management has appointed Mr. Hanley Chew as the Industry Advisor to the Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Hons) programme. He brings with him a wealth of hospitality industry experience with is previous works at the Sunway Group under its hospitality arm, overseeing the management and expansion of the Sunway, Allson and The Banjaran brands in Southeast Asia, China, India and the Middle East. He was the CEO for Sunway International Hotels & Resorts, Sunway International Vacation Club, Sunway Healthy Lifestyle and Sunway Travel. He was also the CEO of Destination Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd, the leisure and travel arm of Khazanah Nasional Bhd. He then founded Hotel Integrations Sdn Bhd, a hotel consultancy company.   Against a background of long-term respiratory limitations when living with asthma, stigma and low self-esteem have also been identified as the social phenomenon among adult asthmatics.  Research has explored and identified the internalised stigma and low self-esteem in individuals living with asthma, but less has been done to evaluate the levels of self-stigma and self-esteem for the respective impact on asthma control.
