He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience in different universities. His area of expertise is Nanobiotechnology and has research experience on nanoparticles-based drug delivery, nanotoxicology, nanomaterials – mediated heavy metal and dye removal.

Dr. Samrot did his undergraduate B.Sc degree at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India and Secured First Class. He Pursued his M.Sc. - Microbiology at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India and Secured first class. He did his M. Phil in Microbial Technology and Secured First Class. He did his PhD in Microbiology at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India and his research topic was “Cigarette smoke induced modulation in mice and effect of marine cyanobacteria on induced modulation”. Where, set of animals models were exposed to cigarette smoke/Hydrazine (a known carcinogen derived from cigarette smoke). Pathological changes induced by cigarette smoke and hydrazine were studied on mice. Cigarette smoke/ Hydrazine exposed animals were treated with Oscillatoria willei - a marine cyanobacterium extract. It was found that Oscillatoria willei has the potency to cure the ill effects caused by cigarette smoke and hydrazine. Later, he continued his M. Tech in Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology and secured First class with distinction.

His undergraduate and postgraduate research works were focused on the field of Microbiology and he worked as a junior research fellow in the Department of Ocean Development from the year 2003- 2005 and his work was based on “Drugs from Ocean” funded project entitled “Screening Marine Cyanobacteria for Anti-Tumor Activity with a View to Develop Potential Anticancer Drug”. Later due to his quest for knowledge, curiosity in learning and critical thinking he developed his interest in the field of nanotechnology and further continued his research work in nanotechnology. As a professional with a strong academic background, he has a vast knowledge in Project Management, Quality Initiatives, Technology, Critical Thinking, Troubleshooting, Problem Analysis and Resolution.  He possesses strong leadership traits and the ability to coordinate and lead a team under difficult circumstances, always creating a friendly work environment, thus enhancing operational efficiency and optimizing resource utilization.

He conducted several national and international workshops, conference and webinars and has also been to several national and international conference as a resource person and enriched a wide range of audience including students and faculty members with insightful and well explanatory talks. He has attended around 30 odd national conference, 10 plus international conference, presented 30 over papers and posters, of which he had won best paper and poster awards as well.

He received a membership title “MABMS” Award given by the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists during “XXVI Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Bio Medical Scientists” held at Science City Auditorium, Kolkata conducted by Calcutta University, Kolkata from 25th to 27th November 2005 and “Agathiar award” in “XXVII Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Bio Medical Scientists” held at TGBRI, Trivanananthapuram from 25th to 27th November 2006. He also received the YOUNG SCIENTIST award in NUS-VIT symposium on “Theranostics in Health and Diseases” conducted by VIT, Vellore in association with NUS, Singapore on 21st and 22nd July, 2017. He received the SRISTI – GANDHIAN YOUNG TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION (GYTI) AWARD in the category of Technological Innovation for guiding the project entitled “Dual Action of SPIONs in effective removal of heavy metals and mosquito larvae from water” from SRISTI, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in July 2019.

He published around 140 + articles in well esteemed National and International journals like Elsevier, Springer, Frontiers, MDPI etc and his cumulative impact factor is above 140 +. He has also published 2 Books , 7 Book chapters and 5 articles in Proceedings. He has acted as peer reviewer for many high impact journals. He also submitted more than 20 16SrRNA sequences of several new strain of bacteria in GENBANK.

He has guided 6 M.Phil, 8 M.Sc, 1 M.Tech, 21 B.Tech projects and 10 B.Sc Biomedical sciences students. Graduated two Ph.D. Students, currently guiding two more Ph.D., students. As a researcher he visited Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia for 4 months. Due to his extensive thinking and intellectual ideas, he received funds from Technology Business Incubator (TBI) for one of his researches works developing filter using SPIONs for water treatment. He also received another funding from MAHSA University for the project entitled “Dual action of surface engineered SPIONs in effective removal of heavy metals and mosquito larvae from water”. He has an Australian patent for the work “Synthesis of gold nanoparticles using Hylecereus lindatus peel extract” and 3 Australian patents are under processing.

His future research works is based on developing an alternative for collagen treatment using the animal wastes. Not only that, he is keen to use waste derived materials for medical and environmental applications. His future researches also contain biopolymer-based drug delivery, Nanotoxicology, Environmental remediation and Cancer therapy using stem cells.
