Through the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic still looming over the entire globe, similar to last year, the Merdeka Day’s celebration may not be as grand and spectacular as what we are accustomed to having, especially with the annual Independence Day Parade, yet our patriotic spirits is not dimmed, instead it burns brighter as we remain resolute, and united as one strong nation with the hope that our imaginable future will be greater and magnificent.
With the same spirit, in conjunction with August thematic month which was centered around the theme Leadership, the Centre for Pre-University Studies organized a poster competition themed Reclaiming Merdeka Over COVID-19. Opened to all MAHSA students, the poster competition aimed to encourage entrants to draw their experience in the pandemic as inspiration. Entries of the posters were judged according to the following criteria: Originality, Impact, Composition, and Creativity. Amongst 11 entries, 2 winners were chosen. The 1st Prize goes to Ms Monica A/P Sivakumar and 2nd Prize goes to Mr Tan Yi Jing.
A big congratulations from Centre for Pre-University Studies to the winners and to all participants. Given that all students have been largely stuck in their homes, predominantly using digital media to study and socialize, we hope the competition provides a welcome respite from day to life and may even be therapeutic as entrants can reflect on all the opportunities that has risen from this pandemic.
