Breaking Barriers: MAHSA University's HPV Campaign Lights the Path to Cancer Prevention

In a powerful stride towards public health awareness, MAHSA University recently hosted a transformative two-day HPV vaccination campaign that promises to be a game-changer in the fight against cancer. Aligning with the upcoming Malaysian Association for Cancer Research (MACR) conference, the event emerged as a beacon of hope and education.

The stark statistics are impossible to ignore. Human papillomavirus (HPV) stands as the most common sexually transmitted infection globally, with devastating potential. The National Cancer Society Malaysia reveals that cervical cancer remains the third most common cancer affecting women in the country. Worldwide, the World Health Organisation's 2019 data paints an urgent picture: 620,000 new cancer cases in women and 70,000 in men, directly linked to HPV.

Against this backdrop, MAHSA University transformed awareness into action. The campaign was a multi-dimensional approach to public health education, featuring:

a) Comprehensive HPV education booths
b) Insightful presentations by leading experts:
  • Dr. Dharmini Veerakumar
  • Dr. Vaishnavi Nadesonmulu
  • Madam Aisyanur
Participants not only gained critical knowledge but also had the opportunity to pre-register for vaccination shots, turning information into immediate preventive action.

The event stood as a testament to collaborative healthcare, made possible by the crucial support of:

  • MSD Malaysia
  • Malaysian Association for Cancer Research
  • MAHSA University's Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (RIE) Team

More than just a campaign, this was a statement—a commitment to proactive health, education, and community well-being. MAHSA University continues to lead by example, proving that knowledge truly is the first line of defence.

Prevention. Education. Hope.  .
