Staff Mobility Programme - Shalamar Nursing College at Lahore, Pakistan

In a pursuit to foster excellence in nursing education, the School of Nursing (SON) at MAHSA joined hands with Shalamar Nursing College to conduct a series of transformative training sessions for BSc Hons Nursing students as part of its Staff Mobility Programme, a two-week programme which gave our staff an opportunity for learning and development.

Established in 2006, Shalamar Nursing College has been a beacon of nursing education, offering a comprehensive four-year graduate nursing program and specialized post-nursing diploma programs. In an effort to enhance the practical skills of their students, SNC reached out to the experienced academicians from MAHSA's School of Nursing. And thus, an enriching journey commenced.

With enthusiasm and dedication, 30 to 40 students, nurses, and staff members gathered daily from 9 am to 3 pm for this immersive training experience. The primary objective was to provide fundamental nursing skills in clinical skill labs and hospital settings. Over a period of 10 days, a total of 35 nursing skills were meticulously taught and practiced. The entire training session was thoughtfully recorded to serve as a valuable resource for future teaching purposes at SNC. Moreover, each recording was followed by a return demonstration session, enabling BSc Hons Nursing and Post Basic students to solidify their newly acquired skills.

The training sessions proved to be an extraordinary success, as evidenced by the palpable excitement and eagerness displayed by the students. Their positive feedback resonated not only among the participants but also among the esteemed academic staff at SNC. Through this collaboration, the students were empowered with a wealth of knowledge and skills, provided by the experienced academicians from MAHSA University's School of Nursing. In recognition of their efforts, small tokens of appreciation were bestowed upon the MAHSA team for their unwavering commitment despite their demanding schedules.

Beyond the immediate impact on skills development, these training sessions also served as a catalyst for future endeavors. The students, nurses, and academic staff at SNC expressed a keen interest in pursuing postgraduate study with the esteemed School of Nursing at MAHSA University. This initiative inadvertently paved the way for the exploration of student mobility programs, allowing students from Shalamar Nursing College to experience the academic excellence at MAHSA University firsthand.

The success of this collaboration has ignited a flame of inspiration, fueling the desire for more staff mobility programs and activities in the future. Such initiatives hold immense potential in facilitating the exchange of knowledge and skills on a global scale. By participating in international programs, academic staff can remain up-to-date with the latest advancements in nursing education and practice, thus enriching their own teaching methods.

The partnership between MAHSA University and Shalamar Nursing College marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of excellence in nursing education. Through the training sessions, students were equipped with indispensable skills, while the seeds of aspiration for postgraduate studies were sown. This transformative collaboration not only nurtured the growth of future nurses but also fostered the exchange of knowledge and skills between institutions. As we reflect on this remarkable journey, we eagerly await the future endeavors that will continue to shape the nursing landscape, one collaboration at a time.
