MAHSA International Dentistry Conference 2021 (Mi-DENT2021)

The Faculty of Dentistry successful completed the MAHSA International Dentistry Conference 2021 (Mi-DENT2021) organised in collaboration with MAHSA Academics Solutions (MACS) and held on the 24th and 25th of September, 2021. The opening ceremony of the conference was addressed among others by YBhg Dato' Mohd Hafiz Bin Yusof (Director of IPTS, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia), YBhg Datuk Dr. Roziah Binti Omar (President of UNIKL, and Member of MAHSA University's Board of Governors), and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ikram Shah Bin Ismail (Vice-Chancellor, MAHSA University).  The conference included three prestigious international Dental Education symposia respectively on “Clinical-based Education in Restorative Dentistry - the National Perspectives” , “Barriers in Clinical-based Education in Oral Medicine during the Pandemic” , and “Community and Preventive Dental Education Strategies in the New Norm” . 25th September is World Pharmacist Day and it is celebrated annually since the year 2000 when it was first launched by the  International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). The goal of celebrating this day is to draw attention to pharmacists and the good health advantages they provide. The International Pharmaceutical Federation  was in fact founded on this very same date back in 1912, and the major goal of this day is to promote the role and actions of pharmacists in promoting health.  Pharmacists are responsible for ensuring that people get the most out of their medications. Faculty of Health Sciences Best Teacher Awards 2021

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS) organised its “FOHS Best Teacher Awards 2021” to seek out the best of the best among its lecturers for the academic year 2020/21 as chosen by their students.  These awards aimed to recognise and celebrate outstanding FOHS lecturers who have demonstrated dedication and excellence in educating the students of FOHS. The online voting for these awards was opened to all FOHS students. There were 3 individual categories, which were the Best Online Teacher, Best Theory Teacher, Best Practical Teacher, and a Best Overall Teacher for the highest cumulative score in all 3 categories. It was a tight race between all the lecturers, but the eventual winners were: 1) Best Online Teacher: Mr. Nelson Arputharaj John 2) Best Theory Teacher: Mr. Ravi Kumar Murugesan 3) Best Practical Teacher: Mr. Ramakrishnan G. Reclaiming Merdeka Over COVID-19 - A Poster Drawing Competition

Words by : Madam Nor Diana binti Zulkifli Through the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic still looming over the entire globe, similar to last year, the Merdeka Day’s celebration may not be as grand and spectacular as what we are accustomed to having, especially with the annual Independence Day Parade, yet our patriotic spirits is not dimmed, instead it burns brighter as we remain resolute, and united as one strong nation with the hope that our imaginable future will be greater and magnificent. With the same spirit, in conjunction with August thematic month which was centered around the theme Leadership , the Centre for Pre-University Studies organized a poster competition themed Reclaiming Merdeka Over COVID-19. Opened to all MAHSA students, the poster competition aimed to encourage entrants to draw their experience in the pandemic as inspiration. MOU Singing between MAHSA University and Pratistha Industries Limited

21 September 2021 - A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between MAHSA University and Pratistha Industries Limited – a renowned Indian biotechnology-driven multinational corporation. The signed MOU was virtually exchanged by Prof. Dato Dr. Ikram Shah the Vice-Chancellor of MAHSA University and Dr. KVSS Sairam the Founder Chairman of Pratistha Industries Limited. This industrial collaboration of MAHSA with Pratistha is expected to facilitate collaborative research projects, supervision of research students, joint publications and patents, programme development, micro-credentials, curriculum review, employability enhancement, internship arrangement, and training in the fields of Biopharmaceuticals, Biofertilisers, Biopesticides, and Nutraceuticals. We look forward to a concerted effort for continued success for the coming future.

MAHSA's Young Dental Researchers Win 1st Prize and Best Overall Research for Undergraduate Category at the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting IADR-MALSEC

18th September 2021 - Congratulations to Ms Jacqueline Chung and Ms Ng Yue Myng from the Faculty of Dentistry, MAHSA University, for winning 1 st place for the Undergraduate Category, and Overall Undergraduate Research Project respectively at the 20 th Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Malaysian Section, held online, today. Ms Chung’s winning paper presentation was titled ‘Comparison of Cleaning Efficacy of Two Different Disinfectant Solutions on Used Dental Burs’ , an undergraduate research conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Professor Dr. Kranthi. Ms Ng’s project paper which won the best overall project was titled ‘Comparative Evaluation of the Microhardness of a Novel Zirconia Reinforced Rice Husk Nanohybrid Composite and Nanofilled Composite when Using Three Different Curing Modes’, supervised by Professor Dr. Kiran Singhbal. RESEARCHER SPOTLIGHT: Dr. Antony V Samrot

  Dr. Antony V Samrot is a Senior Lecturer, Program Coordinator and Research Manager, School of Bioscience, Faculty of Medicine, Bioscience and Nursing, MAHSA University, Malaysia. He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience in different universities. His area of expertise is Nanobiotechnology and has research experience on nanoparticles-based drug delivery, nanotoxicology, nanomaterials – mediated heavy metal and dye removal. Dr. Samrot did his undergraduate B.Sc degree at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India and Secured First Class. He Pursued his M.Sc. - Microbiology at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India and Secured first class. He did his M. Phil in Microbial Technology and Secured First Class. 5 Reasons to Embark on a Diploma

The job market is beginning to see a shift once again in what it expects from its graduates. There was a time when the general public looked at Vocational Training with disinterest, assuming since it was not a degree it is therefore not professional enough to secure a job and is a waste of time and money in college. This however is taking a hundred and eighty degree turn in the current decade. To state a fact, this was never the case in the business industries actually to dismiss a diploma qualification. Even back in the early turn of the millennium and at the rise of the fourth industrial revolution, the assumption that diploma graduates were not employable as compared to a degree graduate remained mostly amongst those not from the industry.
