Learning Beyond the Classroom: A trip to Cameron Highlands

Academic trip is one of the important ways for students to discover their interest in a particular field, experiences during the trip can also foster their interests and explain potential career paths. By participating in an academic trip, students have the opportunity to gain various experiences during the trip. This experience allows them to make more educated decisions about their colleges and majors, while instilling lasting enthusiasm in return.

Cameron Highland has been selected as a place to visit to gain knowledge because it is one of Malaysia's most popular tourist destinations, a collection of peaceful townships perched 1500 meters high on a nest of serene mountains. Cooling resorts, tea plantations, and strawberry farms sprawl lazily across lush valleys and meandering hillslopes, the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday.

Other than that, in order to learn about the hospitality industry, this trip will visit one of the 5-Star hotels at Cameron Highland which is Zenith Hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms, delightful cuisine, food and beverage outlet, relaxing spa, extravagant ballrooms, and many other facilities. This will expose the students to the real situation of hotel management and to get to know in detail ways to overcome day-to-day operation challenges and to see the real life of working experience so that they can expect what they will face in the future.

This is a first two days and one-night trip by the Centre of Hospitality Management and during our stay, all the students are exposed to management skills, some teamwork activities and even cooking. They applied what they learn in class to a real-life problem and improve their communication skills, leadership skills, and many problem-based learning throughout the trip. In conclusion, this academic trip will not only give exposure to all Centre of Hospitality Management students to the hospitality industry. Learning beyond the classroom covered so many things that are impossible to learn in class!

Here are some pictures from the day.
