Enhancing Student Leadership: SRC Exco Camp

The Student Representative Council (SRC) of MAHSA University organized an Executive Committee (EXCO) Camp from 28th July 2023 to 29th July 2023 at MAHSA University. The purpose of the camp was to provide an opportunity for the newly elected SRC EXCO members to come together, bond as a team, enhance leadership skills and strategize for the upcoming academic year.

The objectives of this camp were:
  1. Facilitate team-building and collaboration among EXCO members.
  2. Enhance leadership and communication skills.
  3. Develop a shared vision and action plan for the SRC’s initiatives.
  4. Foster a sense of responsibility and commitment to the student body.
  5. Provide a platform for networking and relationship-building among EXCO members.
The camp commenced with ice-breaking activities to help SRC get to know each other better. Various team-building exercises were introduced to encourage collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. These activities helped create a positive and inclusive atmosphere among the EXCO members.

Guest speakers from Leaderonomics conducted workshops on leadership styles, effective communication, time management, and conflict resolution. These sessions aimed to equip the EXCO members with essential skills and tools to lead the student body efficiently and address any challenges that may arise.

During the session, SRC members were briefed on developing a shared vision for the SRC and setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for the upcoming academic year. The EXCO members brainstormed ideas, discussed priorities, and identified key areas of focus.

Also, the speakers gauged SRC on the topic of strategic planning and initiatives. During this session, the EXCO members worked on creating a comprehensive action plan to execute the set goals effectively. They assessed the feasibility of various initiatives, allocated responsibilities, and determined timelines for implementation.

At the end of the camp, EXCO members reflected on their experiences and learning throughout the camp. They discussed their individual and collective growth and how they planned to implement their newfound knowledge back on campus. Additionally, the camp provided an opportunity for the members to network with one another, building strong bonds and fostering collaboration beyond the camp.

The Student Representative Council’s Executive Committee (EXCO) Camp was a resounding success. The camp enabled the newly elected EXCO members to form a cohesive and motivated team. The SRC acquired essential leadership skills, improved communication, and developed a clear action plan for the upcoming academic year.

The EXCO members left the camp feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to serve their fellow students with dedication and enthusiasm. The sense of camaraderie fostered during the camp is expected to translate into more effective decision-making and successful implementation of initiatives for the betterment of the entire student body.
