Entrepreneurial Skill Set: Empowering Youth to Create Leaders

The Internship, Placement and Employability (IPE) Committee at MAHSA University continuously helps the students with entrepreneurial programs and supports entrepreneurs by getting their ideas off the ground. IPE began its series of Special Event Talks on Feb 10, 2022 with its first talk entitled ‘Entrepreneurial Skill Set: Empowering Youth to Create Leaders’ by Mr. Christopher Tock, Group Chief Executive Officer, Digitally.Asia Group Malaysia, as well as Chief Executive Officer, Cause Effect Digital and SocialGrooves.com.

Addressing hundreds of MAHSA students, staff and visitors, and even guests online, Mr. Christopher Tock advised the students to grab all forms of opportunities, acquire knowledge and be the best one can be. Instead of waiting for the others, if one feels strongly about something, just take the ball and solve the root issue, as if one were to wait for others, it may never happen.

Quoting Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2006 for his role in developing a microcredit bank in Bangladesh, Mr. Christopher Tock shared about considering a values-driven approach when developing business strategies to ensure long-term success. The triple bottom line of people, planet and profit maintains that companies should focus as much on social and environmental issues as they do on profits.

He had also shared on having growth mindset to empower youth. Essentially, growing and doing better is a source of personal fulfilment. By having growth mindset, it offers pride in one professionalism and ability to make a difference. He had finally concluded by quoting the importance of cultivating gratitude, practising love and kindness, as well as living with hope.

His sharing had received positive responses from the participants. In the closing note by Prof. Kesava Rao Alla, Chief Operating Officer MAHSA Group of Academic Institutions, he thanked Mr. Christopher Tock for his inspiring sharing and expressed interest to invite him again for future sharing,
