MAHSA University Signs MOU with National Stroke Association of Malaysia

 



On 21st September 2022, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS), MAHSA University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) for the teaching and training of students in MAHSA’s  Diploma and Bachelors in Physiotherapy programmes.

Signing the MoU on behalf of MAHSA University was Prof. Dato Dr. Ikram Shah, Vice Chancellor of MAHSA University  and the Dean of FOHS Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veronica Chua while Ms. Sylvia Chong, Chief Executive signed on behalf of NASAM.

This MoU will provide MAHSA’s Physiotherapy students Clinical placement opportunities at all 8 of NASAM’s centers all over Malaysia to gain clinical exposure in holistic stroke rehabilitation.

NASAM which was established more than 25 years ago, provides holistic and affordable therapy for stroke patients that give them a second lease on life. The work NASAM has done has made a huge difference in the lives of many stroke survivors who would have otherwise not had access to stroke rehabilitation. As part of its Stroke rehabilitation programme, NASAM offers counseling/emotional support, speech therapy and occupational therapy aside from Physiotherapy. 


MAHSA University is very glad to support NASAM through this partnership while at the same time offering another exceptional learning opportunity for our physiotherapy students to gain practical experience in the management of stroke patients at the leading stroke rehabilitation center in Malaysia

Shattering Stereotypes: First Malaysian Indigenous Dentist

The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) recently extended their congratulations to Dr Tan Bee Hui, who became the first indigenous person to earn the title of Dentist.
