On 21st September 2022, the Faculty of Health Sciences
(FOHS), MAHSA University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Stroke Association of Malaysia
(NASAM) for the teaching and

Signing the MoU on behalf of MAHSA University was Prof. Dato Dr.
Ikram Shah, Vice Chancellor of MAHSA University and the Dean of FOHS Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veronica
Chua while Ms. Sylvia Chong, Chief Executive signed on behalf of NASAM.
This MoU will provide MAHSA’s Physiotherapy students Clinical
placement opportunities at all 8 of NASAM’s centers all over Malaysia to gain
clinical exposure in holistic stroke rehabilitation.
NASAM which was established more than 25 years ago, provides
holistic and affordable therapy for stroke patients that give them a second
lease on life. The work NASAM has done has made a huge difference in the lives
of many stroke survivors who would have otherwise not had access to stroke
rehabilitation. As part of its Stroke rehabilitation programme, NASAM offers counseling/emotional
support, speech therapy and occupational therapy aside from Physiotherapy.
MAHSA University is very glad to support NASAM through this
partnership while at the same time offering another exceptional learning
opportunity for our physiotherapy students to gain practical experience in the
management of stroke patients at the leading stroke rehabilitation center in Malaysia
