Photography, like any other creative pursuit, needs a great deal of dedication, effort, and practice. In photography, juxtaposition is an compelling skill which basically encompasses the placement of two or more items side by side, creating an fascinating illusion that is contrast in colors, forms, lines, and other factors. In a single photograph, it is a powerful technique to depict two opposing effects of objects, thoughts, people, images, or animals. In simple terms, juxtaposition in photography is the capture of two or more objects placed next to each other. These strategies can be utilized to pique people's interests and make them think about the times and scenes being shot.
Due to its level of complexity and intriguing nature, the Centre for Pre-University Studies (CPUS) decided to organise a Juxtaposition Illusion Photography Competition between June 22nd and June 29th, 2021, in conjunction with MAHSA's Thematic Month - Passion. The competition was open to all MAHSA students and staff as well as to the surrounding secondary school students. Three winners were chosen through an intense judging process as submissions were nothing short of amazing! Originality, inventiveness, technical quality, composition, and emotional effect were used to pick the winners. Daksh Vora took the first place, Shu Kin Man came in second, and Evan Chong came in third.
Thank you to everyone who took part and keep up the amazing photography skills!
