MAHSA launches Bachelor of Sports Science (Honours) Programme & Inks MoU with National Sports Institute (ISN), Malaysia.

Bandar Saujana Putra, 5 September 2024 – MAHSA University on Thursday launched the Bachelor of Sport Science (Honours) Programme, a new undergraduate degree that is set to draw experts and sports enthusiasts alike in an effort to optimise sports performance and health for athletes of all ages and abilities. To provide students in this programme with industrial exposure, access to state-of-the-art facilities and the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life settings, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between and MAHSA and the National Sports Institute (ISN), Malaysia today at MAHSA University campus in Bandar Saujana Putra.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the advancement of sports science education in Malaysia, offering MAHSA students unparalleled opportunities for elite performance-level practical exposure, research, and internships at ISN. Signing the MOU on behalf of MAHSA was Prof Dato Dr. Ikram Shah, Vice chancelor of MAHSA University and CEO of ISN En. Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli. Also present at MOU Signing was the Chairman of ISN Datuk Marina Chin and senior management from ISN as well as MAHSA University.

“This partnership aligns with ISN’s mission to foster excellence in sports performance and health sciences. By working together, we can create a dynamic environment for research, innovation, and practical learning that will benefit athletes, students, and professionals alike,” Mr. Ahmad Faedzal Md Ramli adds.

Leveraging on the synergistic relationship between MAHSA University and ISN, the Sports Science programme launch and MoU signing aims to be an avenue that benefits students, faculty, athletes, and the broader sports and health sciences communities. It is also expected to pave the way for future collaborative efforts in research, innovation and the development of high-performance sports practices in Malaysia. Commenting on this, Senior Director, Academic and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing and Education Associate Professor Dr Veronica Chua stated, “We are delighted to partner with The National Sports Institute Malaysia to enhance our Sport Science degree programme. This MoU will provide our students with unique opportunities to engage in high-performance sports settings, conduct cutting-edge research, and develop the skills necessary to excel in the sports and health sciences fields. We believe this collaboration will significantly benefit both institutions through the exchange of knowledge as well as collaborative initiatives that will advance sports science in Malaysia.” 

The Bachelor of Sport Science (Honours) programme at MAHSA University is a 4-year programme that offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for a successful career in sports and exercise science, It covers various disciplines, including physiology, biomechanics, psychology, nutrition, and sports management that ensures graduates will be able to manage athletes and those participating in sports holistically.
