Alumni Feature: How an Inconvenience Drove an Entrepreneurial Passion

When inconvenience was the main issue, she decided to find a solution, yes, this is the story of our Alumna Amiratul Syifa who is now a Member of the Board of Directors for Beyond Pharmacy (SA0575490-D) located in Banting Baru, Selangor. Amiratul successfully obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) from MAHSA University in November 2019 and she now runs a Community Pharmacy. As an active student, she was involved in various students’ activities throughout her study here in MAHSA University. She took her first step in the world of pharmacy by undergoing her Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) training in Farmasi Banting and Jabatan Farmasi, Klinik Kesihatan Telok Dato’ for one-year (August 2020 to September 2021).

After completing her PRP training, she decided to continue her career as a community pharmacist and decided to open a Pharmacy near by her grandmother's home as he realised how inconvenient it was for those who lived further away from the rural town to get access to pharmaceutical services. Hence she opened her own pharmacy with her business partner, Pirathib Thennarasu a successful businessman in the retail line. She plans to expand her independent retail pharmacy business to a chain of pharmacy by the end of 2022. She's very passionate towards educating the community about medications and health and believes that Health is always Wealth. She wishes that she can be a healthcare provider who can bring wealth to the community by taking care of their own health.

On 11th February 2022, she successfully delivered a talk on the current practices and challenges faced by a community pharmacist in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation to all our third year bachelor of pharmacy students.

Amiratul received the Distinguished Alumni Award from MAHSA University in the recent Alumni Day event held last March 2022. We look forward to following her in her journey and will continue to be proud of her achievements as a young entrepreneur who embarked on this path as a means to ease the needs of the community.
